CHARACTER
Name: Jill Thompson (not a canon last name)
Canon: All Superheroes Must Die
Age: 16
Demigod/Hunter/Satyr/Nymph: Demigod, Daughter of Nike
Demigod abilities:
-Enhanced athletic and battle ability (she typically uses this coupled with her increased odds to move around like a shadow in battle)
-Odds stacked in her favor
-ADHD
-Dyslexia
Personality:
Jill is the mother hen type of person. While she's generally soft-spoken and tends to be more of a follower – as in she is better at taking orders than leading an army on her own – she has a fierceness to her that is easy to be seen. She refuses to take shit from other people, and when people are focusing more on their personal problems than the task at hand, she's quick to let them know that there's more going on that they should be focusing on. She wants to protect people, as well. Within the context of the canon she comes from, Jill is desperate to free the civilians, quick to get angry when she's told not to. She also comforts a good friend while he's dying, refusing to let him be afraid. This is just the kind of person she is; she's a hero, a protector, and she doesn't walk away when she sees someone being hurt.
However, that focus can also be disrupted if she allows her feelings to get in the way. She cares. A lot. And caring means she will forget to take the time to think things through. Luck is probably the reason why she's able to get away with a lot without taking any great damage in the past. She's quick to run in to help a friend or some innocent without any thought to her own safety or her skills and how they could be appropriately used.
On the other hand, Jill is a soldier. She follows orders, even if she doesn't agree with them. She's there to be useful, to be of some help, not to make these decisions on her own. She'll defer easily to a leader, especially one who has been known to make a difference before. It's not that she can't make her own decisions or step into the role of a leader, but she knows that's not where her head is at. Victory isn't personal to her; it's just something that should be achieved, a lot of the time by any means necessary. For example, even though she doesn't agree with John shooting the civilians so that Rickshaw didn't win that round, she does agree that it's a victory that they had to take on their own. She's appalled by it, but it was necessary. In this same respect, it's also why she threatens to shoot Ben when he begins to turn on them. In this regard, it's victory at any cost, and soldiers have to stay in line.
She can also become petty and acts out when things piss her off. In the film, when John leaves her – which she sees as a rejection, considering that she just told him she liked him – she hooks up with another one of her teammates in retaliation. She regrets it, but she just wanted to make herself feel better. She definitely doesn't even take Charlie's feelings into consideration. This is just how she reacts to rejection. It's all about how she can settle her own feelings, without really thinking about how it might affect people around her. However, she's not cold and heartless. She does regret the stupid things that she's done, but Jill also realizes that she can't change the past. If anything, she realizes that she has to strive to make herself better after these lapses.
A lot of that comes from the fact that she's spent years being unrecognized by her mother. How hard is it to just flick a signal over your kid's head? Although she tries to not let it bother her too much, especially now, there's a certain bitterness to the whole business with Nike. She wants to please her mother, but at the same time, she worries about coming off as too desperate. It's not like her accomplishments before had been recognized, so why worry about it now?
Overall, though, Jill is generally helpful and pleasant. Her problems are her own thing, not something that needs to be aired out for everyone to know.
AU History:
Jill Thompson is the only child of George Thompson and the goddess Nike. He was a physical fitness trainer who caught her attention, and hey, when a self-proclaimed goddess wants to sleep with you, you're not going to say no. He never did get her name, though. Needless to say, George found himself with a baby and a missing mother. Not that her father was a particularly bad one. They get along well, especially now that she's not a child anymore. Young men typically don't want to be raising babies on their own.
When Jill was four, her father moved them to Ohio. It was in day care that she met Ben Keats, and the two quickly bonded as friends. Ben was loud where Jill was quiet, and it made for an easy relationship where she would make sure he didn't get too out of hand and he... Well, he got out of hand. Somehow, despite the fact that they were two demigods hanging out, monsters didn't seem to be attracted to them, so they managed to make it to the age of 12 before being discovered. It was in middle school that they were discovered by a satyr, who explained that Jill was a demigod.
Camp was interesting for Jill. While Ben was claimed relatively early on and moved out of the Hermes Cabin, she was still there. Ben, being the good friend that he is, tried to help cheer her up by pretending that they were superheroes (it was basically the same thing). She still thinks the cape is kind of stupid, but she hasn't really had the heart to tell him so. And each year, when she returned for camp, she was still there. It hurt, and it made her disgruntled, but she focused more on her training, finding that she had a sort of ease when it came to the battlefield. She took to the physical activity well, challenging herself not just on the field, but the wall as well.
Jill was there during the attack on Manhattan, helping the good fight with her Hermes Cabin bros. She also kicked Ben in the ass when he finally arrived (stupid Ares kids, seriously).
It's only after Percy Jackson's stern talk with the gods that Jill's finally claimed by Nike, whom she's met only once. Nike sort of beat around the bush with an apology, but Jill really doesn't know if she wants to accept it. Going four years without any word or acknowledgment or approval has been hard to deal with. Now suddenly it's all cool because Percy had to speak up? But she'll do whatever it takes to show her mother that she's the best that she can be. It's in her blood, after all.
Counselor: Sure, let's go for it. Technically, there is nobody else in the cabin at the moment, which would make her the oldest. I also think it would be interesting for her to become a counselor, considering she's been living in the Hermes Cabin the past four years. ~Sudden responsibility~

Iris Message:
[Jill's running her hand through her faux-hawk when the IM starts. She looks bored, for the most part, but there's also a frown on her face.] It's too quiet around here. Not in the sense that something bad is about to happen. I'm just not used to it. [She won't say it, but she misses being in the Hermes Cabin. She misses the closeness and camaraderie of the whole place.]
That said, anybody up for making a little noise? Some kind of fun, maybe. All work and no play makes for a bored demigod.
